QUICK FIX: At Berlin Fashion Week on Wednesday, Clemens en August designer Alexander Brenninkmeijer got in on the “buy now, wear now” trend. For his first runway show, he collaborated with Stylebop.com on a fall collection that went on sale on the site immediately after the show.
Inspired by Wes Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums,” Brenninkmeijer featured looks worked in classic shapes, often featuring a little surprise detail, such as athletic striped cuffs on women’s silk tops and dresses, and peeking out of the sleeves of a men’s khaki suit. For outerwear, reefers and car coats for both genders were accented with leather strips and piping, while a style in a novel blanket plaid popped in camel, black and red. A women’s long belted leather coat was particularly stately, even when worn over nothing but briefs. While these looks will certainly do some closet time during the hot summer weather, Brenninkmeijer noted, “It’s like the music industry. When you release a single, consumers either download the song or go to the concert two months later.”
