New York may be the center of fashion this week, but Los Angeles was infused with a touch of Parisian chic Wednesday night when “Coco Avant Chanel” premiered at the Pacific Design Center.
Star Audrey Tatou, who delivers a stunning turn as Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, was joined by director Anne Fontaine, Lily Collins, Susan Becker and Tracee Ellis Ross. “It was difficult to imagine her, how she was before her glory, and make it believable,” said Tatou. “I had a lot of freedom but it was less comfortable than imitating Chanel when she was in her glory days.”
After the premiere, Tatou and the others gathered for dinner at the Chanel boutique on Robertson Boulevard, which was decked out with white roses in black vases. Guests sipped Perrier-Jouet Champagne and munched on bite-size burgers, french fries, chicken pot pies, and lemon tarts.
