SUZY TO SPEAK: Suzy Menkes, Vogue’s international editor, will hold her first Australian talk on Oct. 22, a ticketed in-conversation with Collette Dinnigan at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, a venue of the city’s Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. Menkes and Dinnigan will represent the launch of a series of public programs for MAAS’ newly minted Centre for Fashion. The center’s first exhibition — a retrospective of Dinnigan’s 25-year career, just bowed at the Powerhouse and runs until Aug. 28, 2016.

On Oct. 23, Menkes will also present at the Australian Fashion Laureate Awards at the Sydney Opera House — a series of awards recognizing industry achievement and an initiative of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia operator IMG, in consultation with an industry advisory panel.

Supported by the New South Wales Government and now in its ninth year, the event’s peak award — the Australian Fashion Laureate — is considered the country’s most prestigious fashion honor. The nominees for 2015 are designers Alex Perry, Toni Maticevski, and Camilla and Marc duo Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman; fashion consultant Nancy Pilcher; head of the Fashion Design Studio at Sydney Institute of TAFE Nicholas Huxley, and Jarrad Clark, now senior vice president, production, at KCD Worldwide.
