CONVIVIALITY: Milan is gearing up to host the 11th edition of Convivio, the AIDS fund-raiser launched in 1992 by Gianni Versace, running June 8 to 12 at Fieramilanocity. The biennial event, involving the most important fashion companies which sell selected pieces from their collections at up to 50 percent off their original prices, will kick off with a dinner on June 7. As usual, the proceeds will benefit Italian nonprofit organization ANLAIDS.
“I’ve been to Wien for two days to attend the Life Ball and I had the impression that the entire city took part in the event with joy,” said Vogue Italia’s editor in chief Franca Sozzani, who has been supporting Convivio since 1998. “I hope to see the same involvement and commitment in Milan for Convivio, which is a logo known all over the world and which tries to fight AIDS in a different way.”

In addition to the usual spaces dedicated to art and vintage fashion, this season there will also be a stand organized by Milan-based Istituto Europeo di Design, where 1,000 bags designed by the school’s fashion students will be sold.
ANLAIDS president Mauro Moroni also revealed that a Christmas edition of Convivio is to be held at the Fidenza Village luxury outlet next winter.
