COOLING OFF: Unseasonably warm temperatures turned the afternoon tea that Diane von Furstenberg held Thursday at her West Hollywood store into afternoon iced tea, not that anyone was complaining. “I’m born and raised in L.A. I’m so into this. I’m into heat. I love it so much,” said Jennifer Meyer, who cohosted along with Amanda de Cadenet, China Chow and Katharine Ross. Among the around 70 attendees packing the store were Rachel Zoe, Diablo Cody, Crystal Lourd and Garcelle Beauvais.
Von Furstenberg described the shopping event, which benefited the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, as a kickoff party for an exhibition focused on the wrap dress starting Jan. 10 in the former May Co. building due to become the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in 2016. “We will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the wrap dress,” said von Furstenberg. “After all this time, I’m really proud of it. I won’t fight it. It was always good because it paid for everything in my life, but now I look back and I say, ‘Wow!’”
