COSTA EXPRESS: Francisco Costa has covered some tracks in the past few days. After touching down in Cannes Thursday to host a Calvin Klein Collection event, the designer made his way to the Savannah College of Art and Design to pick up the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award. The school’s president and cofounder Paula Wallace and Talley, a SCAD trustee, did the honors at SCAD’s annual fashion show.
Costa was also on campus for the debut of “Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein Collection,” an exhibition on view at SCAD’s museum through Sept. 15. In addition to his spring 2013 collection, the show features customized red-carpet gowns for Jennifer Lawrence, Gwyneth Paltrow, Diane Kruger and Zoe Saldana. Katie Holmes’ white pleated halter gown from this month’s Met Ball is also on display.

When time allowed, the women’s creative director for Calvin Klein Collection broke free for a private tour of the historic Mercer Williams House, as well as stops at SCAD’s Ronald C. Waranch Equestrian Center and a more unlikely must-see — a 300-year-old oak tree that Talley insists honorees check out. And Costa managed to land a few keepsakes of his own — he bought a photography print at the SCAD student show and commissioned a pair of pants from graduating senior Travis Mann.
