GERONIMO COUTURISSIMO: Offering a new take on high-low, Couturissimo is a new fashion platform and brand launched during Paris Couture Week. It invites couturiers to design ready-to-wear capsules with designs priced at a maximum of 800 euros, or around $890 at current exchange.

London-based Couturissimo was founded by three key figures from the Asian Couture Federation: Frank Cintamani, Emily Hwang and Cindy Zhang, who are founder, vice president and board director, respectively. Zhang also owns the China-based workshop that produces all of the collections. Couturissimo’s creative directors are Livia Stoianova and Yassen Samouilov, who have their own couture label, On Aura Tout Vu.

The Paris event, held in an ephemeral structure in the Jardins des Tuileries, saw the brand’s first guest designers, Indonesia’s Sebastian Gunawan and Dubai-based Filipino couturier Michael Cinco, present their traditional couture collections followed by their see-now-buy-now Couturissimo capsules. These included Cinco’s black dress with a butterfly wing-inspired Chantilly lace design.

Stoianova and Samouilov also presented eight of their most successful couture designs, including the matador-inspired outfit worn by Madonna on her recent “Rebel Heart” promotional tour in France, followed by wallet-friendly wearable versions for Couturissimo.

Speaking before the show, Stoianova said the Couturissimo collaborations would extend to designers from around the world. The next hook-ups are to be announced at an event in London in September.
