FEASTING WITH FARFETCH: “Come on in, welcome to my house. Just a discreet little room for dinner,” said José Neves, pointing to the regal chandeliers and painted ceilings of Spencer House in London, where Farfetch and Creatures of the Wind hosted a dinner Wednesday following the label’s resort show.
Neves’ Farfetch partnered with the New York-based label to live stream the show, and is also selling embroidered parkas from the resort collection on its site.
“We want to provide a platform for independent design companies to reach global fashion lovers. It’s the first time such a partnership takes place, and [this show] is our answer to the changing schedules and the see-now, buy-now model – or whatever you want to call it,” said Neves.
Following the runway spectacle, which took place in three rooms, designers Shane Gabier and Christoper Peters invited guests to the first floor of the mansion for a cocktail reception and dinner.
“It’s been a whirlwind trying to put on a show in another country, but we feel so welcome here,” said Peters.
Dree Hemingway, who co-hosted the dinner alongside Bay Garnett and Elizabeth von Guttman, worked the room, asking guests what they thought of the show and capturing their reactions on Snapchat. American singer and songwriter Christopher Owens, who performed at the show, played guitar in the background.
Dressed in one of the embroidered parkas, Hemingway said that while most of her time has been taken up with film projects, she tries to come back to London as often as possible. “All my friends are here. I love the culture and the British sense of humor is just the best — it’s so dry,” said Hemingway.
Sabine Getty was also among the attendees. She has just released the campaign for her latest collection of fine jewelry, called Memphis. It features a host of the designer’s friends, ranging from from Aquazzura’s Edgardo Ossorio to Langley Fox Hemingway and Aileen Getty, styled in her colorful creations.
