DANNIJO HITS THE ROAD: From the boxing ring to the open road. For Spring, Dannijo drew inspiration from globe-trotting adventures and the brand’s upcoming fashion week presentation on Wednesday will showcase just that. With the overarching theme “Mongolian Road Trip,” sisters Danielle Snyder Morel and Jodie Snyder will introduce their new collection, featuring jewelry, handbags and shoes, as an interactive gallery exhibit, with the designs on display.
The exhibit will take place at Manhattan’s Hosfelt Gallery, with the inside gallery designed to resemble the Mongolian landscape. The sisters cite photographer Lyle Owerko, and his travels through Mongolia, as a major influence for the season. Dannijo previously collaborated with Owerko in fall 2011 on a black-and-white magazine that celebrated New York culture.
The brand has also nabbed a trio of partners to sponsor the presentation: Maybelline, Mercedes-Benz and Samsung. In keeping with the road-trip theme, Mercedes-Benz will provide a classic convertible, complete with a custom Dannijo license plate. Samsung tablets will be an integral part to the exhibit, as well, adding an interactive element to the show.
Social media will once again play a large part; last season’s #Boxerina hashtag has more than 1,000 tagged posts to date. According to the brand, there was a 2,400 percent increase in Dannijo tagged photos on the date of its fall 2014 presentation, compared to an average day. This season, revelers will be encouraged to tag their posts with the hashtag #Dannijoroadtrip. Tagged posts will be featured in a live Instagram feed on the Dannijo Web site.
