ALTAROMA IS SET: In late December, it seemed AltaRoma had been wiped from the calendar for a lack of funds, until Rome’s municipality stepped in with 300,000 euros, or about $355,143 at current exchange. Now, following an assembly Jan. 9, AltaRoma president Silvia Venturini Fendi said the association’s partners would raise additional funds for the Roman couture fashion week, which will take place Jan. 30 to Feb. 2. “I am very happy that, thanks to the efforts of [AltaRoma] partners, we were able to avoid halting an important project, at a time when the works and potential of young talents, of high fashion houses and the image of the city are more visible and relevant than ever,” said Venturini Fendi, adding: “Although the available resources were considerably limited, thanks to the efforts and support of all the organization’s professionals, we are confident that a good event in January is possible and that in the future we will be able to find, together with our partners, new ways to give continuity to AltaRoma’s projects.”
