IN ANOTHER TIME: Decades’ Cameron Silver has helped several St. Louisans prepare to dress the part for the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’ annual gala. The fashion historian held a trunk show last week in the home of gala co-chair Susan Sherman. Opera fans scooped up vintage Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Pierre Cardin gowns for Saturday’s French-themed event. Guests have been advised to wear Twenties French flapper dresses for the world premiere of “27,” which revolves around a Gertrude Stein salon in Paris.

Isaac Mizrahi will be one of the more notable guests. The designer will be directing an opera for the second time in Saint Louis when his version of “The Magic Flute” debuts on May 24.

Mizrahi won’t be able to forget his day job at the 27 gala which will be staged in an old train station — followed by dancing with members of the Saint Louis Ballet. One of the guests, Shereen Fischer plans to wear the dramatic Mizrahi gown she bought from Decades.
