MILAN — Could Tod’s chief Diego Della Valle finally be eyeing a political career?
The entrepreneur has over the years publicly challenged the decisions made by established figures ranging from former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and the current head of state Matteo Renzi to the Elkann family and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chief executive officer Sergio Marchionne, while refraining from actively entering politics.
Things could be changing, according to an article on Italy’s weekly L’Espresso, which claims that Della Valle has deposited a logo called “Noi italiani [We Italians]” to the trademark office of the country’s Ministry of Economic Development. The blue graphic lettering stands out on a yellow background circled by the colors of the Italian flag.
The symbol has been registered for categories related to the activities of a political party, contends the story, such as the organization of conventions, associative activities, or the provision of political information, for example.
