COLD FEET: “It’s completely freaking me out that I’m walking on the runway and sitting in the front row,” said Stella McCartney, taking the mic and marking her debut as patron and host of the Peek & Cloppenburg-sponsored awards for young talent, Designer for Tomorrow, in Berlin.
Marking DfT’s 5th anniversary, McCartney succeeds Marc Jacobs after his several-season stint.
On Wednesday, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, the nine-member jury of fashion and creative types led by McCartney chose Romanian Ioana Ciolacu Miron, a student from the London College of Fashion, for her collection Paradox.
Miron’s Rorschach and stripe printed silks and innovative shapes put her ahead of the all-girl pack of the five competing for a sponsorship program and a show at Berlin’s next fashion week in January.
Speechless over her win, Miron curtsied sweetly upon accepting the prize, then walked the runway in a happy victory lap with McCartney.
