DIOR DOES DALLAS: “What Dallas girl doesn’t love fashion and Dior?” said Capera Ryan, one of 200 sipping Champagne and celebrating Christian Dior’s new store at Highland Park Village. Case in point: Tina Craig, calling her new Dior red pouf cravat “the best thing in the world” to glamourize any look, including a “$10 Gap T-shirt.” Craig said she was one of the faithful back when Dior had a store at the Village a decade ago. “It was next to Prada and I bought everything every season,” said Craig, who was quick to praise Raf Simons’ work for the house. “He’s making stuff I want to wear.” Nearby, Simona Beale showed off her bright orange Lady Dior bag. “I just got it at Bergdorf last week,” she said. “They don’t have it here in this color. Score!”
Guests also visited the “Dior Couture Patrick Demarchelier” exhibit situated on the opposite side of the open-air shopping center. In addition to photography, it features seven mannequins dressed in Dior, including a 1947 New Look white shantung jacket and black wool pleated skirt “bar suit.” But the quiet gallery atmosphere wasn’t conducive to partying. “We went there first but no one is over there,” said Daniele Berland. “Everyone is here in the store.”
