FEELING BLUE: Three generations of royal women — Queen Elizabeth, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge — paid a visit to Fortnum & Mason this morning to greet staff and mark the opening of the Diamond Jubilee Tea Station at the Piccadilly store in London.
All three women wore blue. The Duchess of Cambridge chose a Missoni coat with a micro-jacquard pattern, while the Duchess of Cornwall opted for a navy blue-and-white wool crepe coat by Bruce Oldfield. The Queen donned a military-style suit and matching hat by Angela Kelly, the longtime personal assistant and senior dresser to the British monarch.
The trio toured the food hall, took part in a tea party, met members of the Weston family — who own Fortnum & Mason — and chatted with staff, suppliers and former employees.
The St. James’s Restaurant on the store’s fourth floor has been re-christened the Diamond Jubilee Tea Station in honor of the Queen’s anniversary year. The interiors were designed by David Collins Studio.
The Queen also unveiled a plaque to commemorate the regeneration of the area around Piccadilly.
