SECRET GARDEN: It’s been a busy few days for the young royals who’ve been greeting the crowds — and communing with nature — in the spring sunshine.
On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the first of three garden parties at Buckingham Palace that Queen Elizabeth hosts each year so she can meet and chat with members of the public.
Some 8,000 guests, most of them invited in recognition of their public service, gathered in the vast gardens of the monarch’s London residence. They grazed on tea, cakes and cucumber sandwiches.
The royal couple joined the monarch on the palace terrace as band played “God Save the Queen” and later mingled with guests. It was the duchess’ fourth garden party and the duke’s first.
Yesterday, the couple toured the Chelsea Flower Show before it opened to the public.
