Elle Macpherson has a hand in all aspects of her business WelleCo.
She even went so far as shaking up her wellness product, The Super Elixir, for beauty editors to try at an event celebrating the brand’s launch on Net-a-porter.
“We did research that [indicated] in 2011, if you talked about health and wellness to any woman the most important thing to her was losing weight,” said Macpherson. “Today, the things that women look for are to be inspired and to be energized.”
Come April, Macpherson will have a new item to blend for editors called The Super Shake, a protein powder that contains sprouted brown rice, pea protein, chocolate and Peruvian cacao.
And it couldn’t be better timing. According to Macpherson, the wellness market is worth $700 billion and could reach the trillions by 2019.
“Our wellness category at Net-a-porter is growing and this enhances our whole offering,” said David Olsen, global vice president of beauty at Net-a-porter. “We had a soft launch in December and we basically sold out immediately with The Super Elixir.”
