STARGAZING: With its celestial theme, Eugenie Niarchos’ second Venyx jewelry collection had guests dreaming of faraway places at a cocktail Monday evening to celebrate its launch.
“The stars make me want to get away from it all, they’re relaxing,” said retailer Laure Heriard Dubreuil, saying her favorite stargazing memory was watching shooting stars in the clear summer skies of Corsica, where she’ll be heading soon for vacation.
Giancarlo Giammetti also had escape on his mind: “After the shows, I will be taking a little vacation, on a boat around the Mediterranean. At my age, you would do the same.
“I mostly follow storms and lightning, I love them,” Valentino Garavani’s longtime business partner said, looking at pieces from the collection depicting flashes of lightning.
Niarchos said the line, dubbed “Theiya” after a Greek goddess, was inspired by the power of light in nature, and admitted she is a believer in the power of the elements. “I love stars and I read astrology,” she said.
Fellow jewelry designer Aurélie Bidermann is another horoscope follower. “The planets and the stars have a big influence on us,” she said. “And Eugenie is a star herself.”
