Jo Malone Comes to West Village

The new outpost warmed up to its new neighbors on Thursday night with an appeal to their stomachs.

EVENING JO: New York’s latest Jo Malone outpost warmed up to its new West Village neighbors on Thursday night with an appeal to their stomachs. While partygoers inside the Bleecker Steet perfumery enjoyed Champagne and sniffed at fragrance strips, one waiter stood outside offering macaroons and cookies to passersby. Inside, a quartet of Brits — Lucy Sykes and Euan Rellie and Rag & Bone’s Marcus Wainwright and David Neville — played host for the opening bash. Early shoppers including Jill Kargman, Celerie Kemble and Allison Sarofim perused the wares, while illustrator Peter Parr dressed up gift boxes with line illustrations of London landmarks. When it came time for the host committee to have their picture taken, Sykes made light of having to stand next to “smelly old men.” Given the musky environs, it was pretty clear that she was joking.
