EYE ON BILL: The cameras will be focused on press-shy Bill Cunningham on April 23, when he receives the Carnegie Hall Media of Excellence at a gala benefit at the Waldorf-Astoria. The award recognizes Cunningham’s devotion to chronicling fashion for nearly 50 years, as well as his role in inspiring philanthropy. Sanford I. Weill, chairman of Carnegie Hall’s Board of Trustees and his wife, Joan, are the event’s honorary gala chairs. Annette and Oscar de la Renta and Sarah Jessica Parker are gala chairs, and Mercedes T. Bass, Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller, as well as Terry and Tina Lundgren will serve as gala co-chairs. Tenor Vittorio Grigolo will perform as part of the tribute, which supports music education and community programs of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.

A photographer for The New York Times, Cunningham has two columns that celebrate the landscape of New York City. Both “Evening Hours” and “On the Street” feature his images on a weekly basis.
