FASHION FOLK AND THE MAYOR: Italy’s Chamber of Fashion continues to step up its efforts to revamp Milan Fashion Week and is eyeing deeper ties with the city’s municipality. To this end, the industry’s heavyweights and new key members of the association, from Prada’s Patrizio Bertelli and Diesel’s Renzo Rosso and Angela Missoni to Valentino’s Stefano Sassi and Gucci’s Patrizio di Marco, met with Milan’s mayor Giuliano Pisapia on Wednesday. “The meeting went really very well,” said Mario Boselli, head of the Chamber, underscoring an increased collaboration with the city. The event had been planned for a long time and has no relation to the recent war of words between Pisapia and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who are not part of the Chamber. According to speculation, the mayor has invited the designing duo to Milan’s city hall — a date that has been accepted.
