FRENCH TOUCH: Word has it the Paris fashion mecca known as Colette, which feted its 10th anniversary last year, is in store for a summer facelift. But fans fearing withdrawal symptoms need not worry. According to a source, the store’s entire contents will be uploaded to its Web site during the renovation period.
ACE OF SPACE: André Courrèges has unveiled his latest brand of monumental designs, in the form of 18 vividly colored abstract sculptures. The works, created by Courrèges throughout the Nineties, are on show in Paris’ André-Citroën park, and include “Pink Triangle Cat,” a naive nod to the designer’s iconic trapeze dress. Three electric car prototype designs by Coqueline Courrèges also form part of the exhibit, which ends June 8. Looking forward, a coffee table tome about the iconic designer will be released this fall, penned by Erik Orsenna.

FASHION ACTION: Marisa Berenson is the latest star to climb on board for the imminent Silvia Venturini Fendi-produced movie, a drama based on an Italian family in the textile business. At the launch of Dior’s new luxury cell phone last week, the actress disclosed she was headed to Italy to start filming. “I play Tilda Swinton [character’s] stepmother,” said Berenson, with a wait-and-see twinkle in her eye.
INNER CIRCLE: Adding a sexy French accent to London’s Topshop, Fifi Chachnil, the pinup-style Parisian lingerie designer, will unveil her first capsule collection for the fashion chain July 20. Embellished with coral rosebud bows and vintage black lace, items will be priced around half that of Chachnil’s main line, ranging from around $40 for a panty to $120 for a baby-doll slip.
FACE TIME: It looks like there won’t be any fashion credit on the cover of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s hotly anticipated third album. Called “Comme si de rien n’était,” or “As If Nothing Happened,” the album’s cover will feature a similarly titled photo by her late brother, Virginio Bruni Tedeschi. Due out July 21 in Europe, with a worldwide release later in the summer, the French first lady’s album includes 14 songs and is said to have folk influences. She’s asked for the album’s royalties to be distributed to charity organizations.
IN A SPIN: The sky’s the limit for Hermès. The luxury firm sold its first custom-designed chopper, purchased by the Falcon Aviation Services, based in the United Arab Emirates. Developed in collaboration with Eurocopter, the house’s leather ateliers and Hermès stalwart, the industrial designer Gabriele Pezzini worked on its design, which includes a floor-to-ceiling H-logoed canvas lining as well as handcrafted seats and benches.
FAMILY JEWELS: Anna Mouglalis didn’t always have an affinity for jewels. “I didn’t grow up in a family with jewelry,” said the French actress and Chanel model last week at the brand’s fete for its new jewelry store on Manhattan’s Madison Avenue. “I discovered jewelry when I joined the house [of Chanel].” The crush of people at the store — which is inspired by Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment — didn’t deter eyes from Mouglalis’ oversize Chanel pavé diamond Camellia pendant and diamond earrings. As jammed as the party was with New York socials such as Fabiola Beracasa — wearing Chanel, of course — New York does not compare with Paris. “I’m going home tomorrow to be with my 14-month-old daughter,” mused Mouglalis.
CRATE EXPECTATIONS: Joining Paris’ bulging Palais Royal posse, Corto Moltedo is to open its first flagship June 20 in the swank retail location. The boutique will sit between the Rick Owens and Pierre Hardy stores. The Italian bag brand, the brainchild of Gabrielecorto Moltedo, son of Bottega Veneta founders Laura and Vittorio Moltedo, has commissioned a Winter/Hörbelt installation for the site’s opening, constructed from milk crates and wood.
ART WEAR: Her pedigree is in fine art, but jewelry is Olivia Wildenstein’s first love. “Like every girl, I love things that sparkle,” mused Wildenstein, the 23-year-old daughter of Guy Wildenstein, the famous gallerist (she is Jocelyn Wildenstein’s niece), who has launched a jewelry line named Keemee by Olivia Wildenstein. Wildenstein, a London native who resides in Paris, will unveil her new Rose Collection of 18-karat gold jewelry at Fred Leighton’s new Beverly Hills store, slated to open this fall. “Jewelry is a form of expression. It’s wearable art,” said the designer, whose favorite artist of all time is Pablo Picasso. “How great is it to wear a painting around your neck?” While the debut is months away, Wildenstein is still busy planning her June 8 wedding in Switzerland.
