MUGLER’S PHOENIX: Calling all shoulder pads. The revival of the Thierry Mugler women’s line is bound to add a dose of otherworldly glamour to Paris couture week. According to a source, 21 ready-to-wear takes on archival gems will be presented, reinterpreted by the Thierry Mugler Studio under the control of the house’s artistic director, Rosemary Rodriguez.
IT’S NARCISO: Tuesday’s 10th anniversary party for the Zero + Maria Cornejo label had all the elements of a downtown bash — a raw Bleecker Street space, art installations, a low-key crowd and unlimited libations. David Byrne, Cindy Sherman and Peter Dinklage were among the many there to congratulate Maria Cornejo. Fellow designers Rogan Gregory, Richard Chai, Phillip Lim, Daryl Kerrigan, Cindy Greene, Magda Berliner, Tom Scott, Victoria Bartlett and Jasmin Shokrian also turned up.
A smattering of children weaved around partygoers, but six-year-old Brookti Berne stood out in her floor-length orange Narciso Rodriguez dress. Her mother, Betsy, has been friendly with the designer for years and has written an essay for Rizzoli’s new book about Rodriguez, due out this fall. Cathy Horyn and Sherman also have shared their thoughts about the designer in a Q&A.
Berne’s daughter, meanwhile, is anticipating a different Rodriguez release — another one of his ankle-sweeping dresses. She already phoned in her order. But Rodriguez doesn’t design for just any underage shopper, Betsy Berne said. “We told him, ‘By the way, it’s her birthday.'”
CASTING CALL: Could Laetitia Casta be a new face for Louis Vuitton? Word has it the model and actress sat for a photo shoot this week for the French luxury goods giant.
ON A WING: Vanessa Paradis may be posing for Miu Miu’s fall print campaign, but her voice also can be heard on French television ads for Paris Airports. The ad depicts a family moving through an airport’s shops, restaurants and boarding areas to Cole Porter’s tune “I Love Paris,” sung by Paradis. Meanwhile, the actress and singer has a summer concert tour, and in September, she’ll start shooting Mabrouk El Mechri’s next movie, “Midwife Crisis,” a drama also starring Michael Madsen.

HONOR ROLL: Ines de la Fressange is the latest French fashion fixture to receive the Legion of Honor. The former Chanel model, who now works as the communication director at Roger Vivier, will be pinned with the medal in a ceremony on June 18. Napoléon Bonaparte established the Legion of Honor in 1802 to distinguish individuals who have contributed to the glory of France.
NO PLACE LIKE OM: Former Kaviar and Kind co-owner Katherine Azarmi Rose’s new Los Angeles retail home is, well, very much like a home. Called Roseark, the 5,000-square-foot lifestyle boutique boasts a garden, a meditation enclave and seven rooms, including gallery spaces initially featuring the work of artist Mathew Taylor. During the boutique’s opening Tuesday night, the guests — including Courteney Cox Arquette, Jennifer Meyer, Perrey Reeves, Sasha Alexander, Salma Hayek and Julie Bowen — took tours of the premises house-warming style. For her part, Azarmi Rose, pregnant with her second child, was more comfortable sitting in a chair and watching the action. Asked how she balances her growing family and business, she responded: “Chanting. Lots of chanting.” Now, she said she has just the place to do it.
