SIGNATURE FETISH: Eve is bringing her Fetish back. It’s been nearly three years since rapper/actress Eve Jeffers closed her brand under Marc Ecko Enterprises, the company that purchased the license from Innovo Group in 2004. For holiday, Eve is relaunching her label under a partnership with the New York-based Signature Apparel, which acquired it from Ecko.
“;The main reason we partnered with Eve was because we always felt that she is well respected in fashion and always felt that when the product was out, it just wasn’t right,” said Chris Laurita, president of Signature Apparel.
Laurita said the holiday re-launch will show an entirely new mix of product for a contemporary customer, rather than the junior sportswear customer the brand used to target. He said it will not be logo-driven and will offer a range of products, from premium jeans ranging from $98 to $198 at retail to leather jackets that retail for up to $1,500.
“;We are walking slowly with this brand and we are going to be very careful not to overexpose the product,” he said.
IDOL WORSHIP: “;American Idol” finalist Jordin Sparks is getting the designer treatment for her appearances Tuesday evening and tonight, thanks to Mark Badgley and James Mischka. When show producers came knocking, looking to up the finale’s fashion ante, the design duo obliged and flew to Los Angeles with 100 dresses for the songstress to choose from for twin-bill performances and tonight’s presumably televised red carpet arrival. Mischka said, “;They really wanted to make it red carpet worthy. The show is in L.A, and it’s become such an important part of American culture.”
The designers customized a few gowns for Sparks, made some jewelry for her, and threw in shoes and evening bags. “;She’s even wearing our fragrance,” Badgley said, shortly after a fitting with the 17-year-old on Tuesday afternoon. As of press time, she hadn’t yet voted in her favorite number. But the designers expect her to wear a combination of their designs including something from Badgley Mischka Platinum Tuesday night and a made-to-measure gown tonight. They also said the songbird gravitates toward color and necklines, Badgley said.

Maybe it has something to do with her being the daughter of former NFLer Phillippi Sparks, but the budding musician was game to try on all sorts of dresses. “;She’s not jaded. She’s very fresh and naïve about fashion but really sophisticated, too. She knows what looks good on her,” Mischka said.
Self-described “;big fans” of “;American Idol” since its first season, the designers said they will check in with Sparks before the show for any last minute adjustments. But when she is belting out her three songs, they will be seated and ready to vote. “;We’re definitely going to vote — 10 times each,” Mischka said.
TOGETHER AGAIN: “;How could I say no?” asked Betsy Bloomingdale, guest of honor at the C.H.I.P.S. Annual Luncheon in Los Angeles last week. “;Valentino is my favorite designer. Valentino and Oscar [de la Renta].” The grand dame mined her closet for a red suit, which she paired with a straw hat and sunglasses to protect against the glare. Former First Lady Nancy Reagan, clad in a white suit and her signature tortoise glasses, sat next to Bloomingdale for the Valentino fall runway show, which took place over the pool at Catherine Beyer’s Brentwood estate. But no one in the audience was young enough to recognize the “;surprise” — club promoter Brent Bolthouse, who made the final exit in the name of charity. “;Well, if all else fails, I have another job,” he joked.
WHEN IN ROME: Rome’s nascent film festival is picking up steam. Sharon Stone, who tonight presides over an auction at the annual AmFAR gala in Cannes, has also agreed to chair an inaugural Cinema Against AIDS event in Rome on Oct. 25, with Fendi as the presenting sponsor. Francis Ford Coppola is also said to be screening his latest film at the Roman showcase.
