Winner Named for Inaugural Tory Burch Mentorship Award

The yearlong mentorship will evolve around a collection created by Teslin Doud with guidance from Burch’s team.

FASHION’S NEWEST MENTOR: In partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Tory Burch created the Tory Burch Mentorship Award in January, and on Tuesday, she disclosed its first winner: Teslin Doud.

The yearlong mentorship will evolve around a collection created by Doud with guidance from Burch’s team, including a trip to Paris’ Première Vision to select fabrics. In addition, the budding designer will also have two of her senior thesis designs professionally made.

Doud, a California native, is currently studying at Parsons the New School for Design, and has shown an interest in environmentally conscious fashions.

Burch said the program allows Doud, and future winners, “hands-on exposure to the industry and to the challenges and rewards of designing a collection. Teslin is incredibly talented, and our team is looking forward to helping her realize her enormous potential.”
