HOMEBOUND: Felipe Oliveira Baptista is the subject of a major solo exhibition opening today at Mude, the design and fashion museum in Lisbon, Portugal, and running through Feb. 16.
The native of the country, now artistic director of Lacoste, launched his own label in 2003, after winning the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography in 2002.
The exhibition shows around 80 outfits of the designer’s collections for his label over the last decade.
With a scenography designed by Bureau Betak, the exhibit is organized around five main themes including “innovative geometries,” “technology versus nature,” and “revisiting classics,” showcasing his reinterpretations of little black dresses and man’s tailored jackets.
There is also the “Screen to the brain” installation that was presented this year at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography. It is made out of 80 different sized screens. It shows footages of his mood boards, scrapbooks, collages, drawings, fashion shows and editorials.
