FIGHTING BACK: Milan has scored a victory against the piracy of major brands. On Wednesday during an inspection in several Chinese stores in Chinatown and on the Corso Buenos Aires shopping strip, the local police seized about 40,000 fake fashion accessories. The sequestered counterfeit goods include 12,000 Louis Vuitton and Burberry scarves; 1,000 Dodo charms by Pomellato, and 25,000 Cruciani macramé lace bracelets.

According to town councilor for trade Franco D’Alfonso, in the first half of the year the local police carried out 3,900 investigations, which were followed by 3,214 both administrative and criminal seizures and by notices to the public authority claiming counterfeiting and fencing charges.
