“This isn’t even a fashion show,” one guest said as the paparazzi swarmed the runway to get shots of Kim and Kourtney Kardashian before Avril Lavigne’s Abbey Dawn show Monday night.

He did seem to have a point, considering the photographers outnumbered the guests at one point. Even Kendall Jenner, the Kardashians’ half sister, sat looking half-dazed, blinded by flashbulbs. More at ease was Kris Humphries, Kim’s husband of three weeks, who smiled broadly, chatting up the lensmen. Playing for the New Jersey Nets he no doubt knows the drill. The foursome was out in force for Kylie Jenner’s runway debut at Style360. And in the ever-entwined world they live in, it made perfect sense that Lavigne’s boyfriend is Brody Jenner, yet another family tie.

To help Kylie warm up for the show, the sisters practiced in the hallway of their hotel Monday morning. “I said, ‘Have fun with it. Do something fun when you get to the end of the runway,” Kim Kardashian said. “This is a fun, rock ’n’ roll…it’s so her personality. I’m just glad that her first show was with Avril. She’s my brother’s girlfriend. It’s all family here. That makes her really comfortable.”

Even as kids, fashion was their favorite game. “We would play Donna Karan,” Kim Kardashian said. “Kourtney would be Donna Karan and I would be her assistant and she would boss me around. That was our game.”

Now of course it is anything but given the numerous licensing and endorsement deals the family has racked up. As for why the Kardashians think their family is so popular, Kourtney deadpanned, “Because we’re so fabulous.”

Kim Kardashian said, “No, I think it’s because we’re ourselves and we’re not putting on any kind of act or anything.”

As for whether it is difficult to be a family when so many people see the Kardashians as a brand, she said, “I think we will really thrive together as a family and it actually helps our brand. We all know each other so well that if one of us is having an off day, the other one is right there to pick up where the other one is lacking. We really work well together as a family.”

Kourtney Kardashian said, “All of our businesses, we wouldn’t want to do alone. Like, I’m excited for our design meeting Sunday to kind of go back and forth over pieces. It’s for Sears, but it is just the three of us and our design team. “

Asked about their favorite designers, Kim Kardashian turned her attention to her BlackBerry. But Kourtney Kardashian noted she was wearing Alice + Olivia, is friends with designer Stacey Bendet and had just gone to her show. “She always inspires me because she’s so creative and we carry her line in our Dash stores.”

There are no plans to open more stores for Dash, which they run with their sister, Khloé. “Not this second — it’s a lot of work,” Kourtney Kardashian said.
