A PLACE FOR YVES: The French seaside resort of Deauville this weekend unveiled the Place Yves Saint Laurent, a tribute to the late designer who made Deauville his summer home for 30 years. The ceremony was presided by the town’s mayor Philippe Augier and attended by Saint Laurent’s former partner Pierre Bergé. The previously unnamed square was chosen because it’s the town’s fashion hub, home to luxury names like Louis Vuitton and Hermès. Saint Laurent was an honorary citizen of Deauville, having helped fund the restoration of the Saint-Laurent church there in 1977. He and Bergé also owned the 19th-century Château Gabriel, which is set on the hills overlooking Deauville. Sale proceedings of the property are underway.
