“This is it for me today; this is it for me actually,” the singer Santigold said Saturday evening as the house began to fill at the Alexander Wang F/W 11 show at Pier 94. “I’m in hibernation trying to finish my record.”
Alicia Keys arrived a short while later in a similar state of mind.
“I love Alexander Wang,” the singer said. “I’m really excited to see his show. I just go to a few shows when I can so it’s going to be a good night.”
So who was home with her newborn son? Her husband, Mr. Swizz Beatz?
“His gramdmama is home with the baby, his mimi,” Keys clarified as a squadron of photographers lit up her face with flashes.
Not long after Keys took her seat next to Anna Wintour, Kanye West arrived in a black leather jacket, leather jeans and sunglasses. The cameras started clicking again as West greeted his front-row seat mates, who included Erin Wasson and Julia Restoin Roitfeld to his left and Cecilia Dean, Ryan McGinley and Santigold to his right.
“I feel like there are a few things you could fix,” West could be overheard telling the singer, perhaps giving her some constructive criticism for that return to hibernation.
