Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz made a late arrival to Alexander Wang’s runway show at Pier 94 on Saturday afternoon. As photographers descended on his wife, the hip hop producer took a moment to chat about his recent tenure as producer-in-residence at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
“Ah man, about to get up to a-whole-nother semester,” he said, before Zoë Kravitz came over to say hello.
“Wassup, babe,” he offered as a large security guard closed rank. Time to ask the one question that need be asked.
“They call me everything,” he laughed. “Professor Beatz. Professor, dean: All of that.”
Other notables in the front row included Linda Evangelista, Courtney Love, Lea Michele and Bryan Greenberg, who plays a streetwear designer on HBO’s “How to Make it in America.”
“This is like my first one of these things where I sit in the front,” he said. “I’ve been doing the show, but I just play a fashion designer. I don’t really know about this stuff in real life. I’m just learning myself… This is the madness and the method.”
Greenberg’s seatmate, Swedish singer Lykke Li explained that she had some concerns beyond fashion this week.
“I’m looking at apartments actually, and I’m taking a transcendental meditation course,” she said, noting that the latter came at the behest of David Lynch.
So she was in need of some inner peace?
“Are you kidding?” she asked with a smile as she looked around the room.
