YES SHE CANNES: First a television star, and now an advertising guru? It’s been a month of new ventures for Patti Smith, who appeared front row at the Ann Demeulemeester men’s wear show. Days after her cameo in the final episode of “Law and Order: Criminal Intent,” aired in the United States, the godmother of punk jetted to Cannes for the 58th International Advertising Festival, where she was the guest of advertising agency Grey’s Fifth Annual Legends of Music Seminar on Friday. “It was a discussion on creativity and we talked about various subjects, and not much about advertising,” she said. “My philosophy is just simply: Less advertising, more creative advertising.”

Smith is penning a follow-up to her award-winning memoir “Just Kids.” “I’m writing a sister book to it,” she said, declining to reveal more. The multi-tasking artist is also putting the finishing touches to her next album, and playing a handful of summer festival, including the Hop Farm Music Festival in the U.K. on July 2.
