LOUD AND CLEAR: “It was my first fashion show, and it wasn’t what I was expecting,” said the Formula One racecar driver Max Chilton of Burberry Prorsum. “The lights came up, the music came on and it was like a nightclub — I’ve got to get the playlist.”
Chilton, who attended the show with his girlfriend Chloe Roberts, is in between races — his next is at Silverstone, in Northamtonshire, England — and he’s spending the downtime in training.
And while this may have been his first fashion show, he’s a spoiled clothing customer: “The driving suits are all sculpted and fitted to your body — and they have minimal fabric so they’re as light as possible,” he said. Chilton wasn’t the only athlete watching the show — Serena Williams, in town for London’s tennis season — Wimbledon starts on Monday, after all — was there, too.
Nearby was the English actor Douglas Booth, who squeezed in his front-row appearance before racing off to the set of “Posh,” a film about Oxford’s famously exclusive Bullingdon Club, where he plays a chap named Harry. “I loved the knits,” said Booth, referring to Burberry’s eye-popping brights — and the flower prints, too,” he added, referring to his blue-and-white silk shirt.
