ACTING BREAKS: French actor Hugo Becker, who took in the Cerruti 1881 men’s show in Paris on Friday, said he was sticking with television for now.

The “Gossip Girl” star plays a footballer in a double episode of “Silent Witness” for Britain’s BBC One channel. “We shot at Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal Football Club. We were filming during halftime in the middle of a real game, so that was pretty amazing,” he said.

Next fall, Becker will star alongside Clovis Cornillac in “La Brigade,” a six-part series for France 2 television, in which he plays a young man who leaves prison and goes to work in the restaurant of a prestigious Paris hotel.

Benn Northover, on the other hand, is taking a break from acting to focus on personal projects, including writing his first feature film script. A longtime collaborator of Jonas Mekas, Northover is curating an exhibition dedicated to the veteran experimental filmmaker opening Sept. 21 at the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Northover noted the location is especially poignant for the Lithuanian-born Mekas. “He left his home country for New York years ago in the Forties because of the Soviet repression, so the fact that we actually have a show happening inside Russia, inside Saint Petersburg, is quite spectacular,” he said.
