If there were any doubts that French actress Mélanie Laurent has achieved international stardom, the media scrum around her at Elie Saab’s show Wednesday put them to rest. “What happened there?” she marveled, giggling. “I think it’s because I’m the only one here.” Laurent said she wears a white Elie Saab gown in the final scene of her next movie “Le Concert,” in which she plays the world’s best violinist. For the worldwide promotion of “Inglourious Basterds,” which kicks off in August, her stylist is tapping new, fresh talent for Laurent to wear. With a string of red-carpet credits this year, including Marion Cotillard at the June premiere of “Public Enemies” in Los Angeles and Robin Wright Penn at the Cannes International Film Festival, Saab said celebrity dressing is as potent as ever. “For me, the red carpet is more important than the fashion show because we present on normal women,” he said.
