SCREEN SAVERS: “I’m usually in roles where I chain smoke and die, so this is the first film my son can actually watch,” actor Sam Riley said with his wry British humor, speaking of his role as Diaval in “Maleficent,” comparing it with his earlier work in independent films.
“I’m Angelina Jolie’s sidekick, a raven [that she turns into a man]. It was great fun,” he said at the Ermenegildo Zegna show.
Riley’s breakthrough performance was in 2007 as Ian Curtis in “Control,” a biopic about the lead singer of the Seventies post-punk band Joy Division who committed suicide in 1980.
Taking in his first fashion show ever, South Korean film director Chan-wook Park revealed he is about to film a short movie for the men’s wear powerhouse.
“It’s not an ordinary commercial, but I’m trying to incorporate the spirit of the company,” he said. The short movie is to be shot in Milan starting the first week of July.
