WORD UP: Angel Haze, the rapper and lyricist, is currently touring the U.K. with the English rock band Bastille and took a break from rehearsals to attend J.W. Anderson’s show Saturday afternoon.
“I haven’t had time to do much in London, but tonight I’m going to the Heron Tower — to the Duck & Waffle, where my friend is a chef. We’re going bowling, too, and I am stoked for that.” Haze said she’s already on a high after releasing the music video for “Battle Cry” the day before.
For the show, Haze donned a sleeveless tunic by J.W. Anderson that showcased her myriad tattoos — and her literary bent. They range from the Cherokee word for peace, to “Nevermore” from Edgar Allen Poe’s poem “The Raven” (“Cause I’m psycho!” Haze said) to a line from Anne Frank: “Paper is more patient than people.”
