IT’S A WRAP: DJ Mia Moretti reckons Maison Martin Margiela might have found the solution to the economic crisis gripping Europe. For its show in Paris on Friday, the label wrapped the first-floor reception rooms of the 19th-century Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild in white plastic, pumping in air through industrial tubes.
“It probably keeps the sun out, actually, so we’re better off that way. We’ll think about that as the depression continues throughout Europe — shrink-wrapping the insides of our apartments,” Moretti quipped.
Moretti has a full calendar during Paris Fashion Week, with a party hosted by new Los Angeles club Bootsy Bellows on Saturday, the Purple magazine bash on Sunday and the “I Love NY” club night at Régine on Monday. “I like to be busy, just as much as I like to be covered in shrink-wrap,” she said.
Actress Marie-Josée Croze, meanwhile, was more concerned with the white coats worn by Margiela’s team than the potentially claustrophobia-inducing decor. “They look like doctors or medical staff,” she mused. Croze has been shooting in Ireland on “Calvary,” which costars Brendan Gleeson as a priest.
