LET IT BYRNE: It was “Bridesmaids” all over again for Australian actress Rose Byrne, stricken with food poisoning on her flight to Milan to attend the Max Mara show on Thursday morning. Was it Brazilian food? “It was something. I’d rather not get in to details,” she laughed backstage, where she snapped photos of the model boards with her smartphone.
Named the recipient of the 2014 Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award, Byrne just wrapped a number of films, most recently “Brother’s Keeper,” an indie film shot in New Rochelle, N.Y., in which she plays a young mother opposite her beau Bobby Cannavale. She’s off to Bulgaria next to shoot the spy film “Susan Cooper” opposite her “Bridesmaid” co-star Melissa McCarthy.
Byrne said she had some fun costumes in the forthcoming “Neighbors,” a comedy about a couple with a newborn baby who end up living next to a fraternity house. “I play an ex-party girl,” she said, describing Indian fabrics and other hippy garb dreamed up by costume designer Leesa Evans.
Bryne was scheduled to do a shoot for Max Mara’s in-house magazine after the show. She is to receive her prize on June 11 at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles.
