Michael Douglas accompanied wife Catherine Zeta-Jones to the Michael Kors runway show last season, so it was a bit of a surprise to find him solo in the front row on Wednesday morning at Lincoln Center. Zeta-Jones is a little under the weather, Douglas said, but he pressed on. “It gives me more of an opportunity to admire the clothes and the models,” he laughed before taking his seat alongside Zoe Saldana and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The actor, who is about a year removed from treatment for throat cancer, said he’s feeling good and a little stronger every month. He is, he said, in no rush to get back to work. “I feel really good, I have an eight- and 11-year-old and I’m old enough to really appreciate how quickly that time goes by before you lose your fatherly influence,” he said. Douglas still intends to return to earlier plans to play Liberace in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming biopic. “Besides all his flamboyance, he was a lovely, lovely guy,” Douglas said. “I’ve never heard anybody spoken about so warmly…it’ll be nice to play a nice guy for a while.”
