Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s loyal pack of hipper-than-hip chicks filled the Proenza Schouler front row Wednesday night, all decked out in pre-fall garb. “It’s clearly meant to have a shirt underneath,” explained Selma Blair of her dress with a very deep V neckline. “But this is one of the perks of being a girl who doesn’t need a shirt underneath. I get to make it a little more daring.” (Whether she got a chill or was modest, Blair ended up covering herself with a jacket during the show at Milk Gallery.)
Blair, Mary-Kate Olsen, three Trainas, Chloë Sevigny and Nicole Richie each completed their ensembles with a PS1 clutch. Richie toted along an additional accessory — a security guard who stood in front of her before the show and then helped her with her coat before shepherding her out of the room afterwards.
Post-show, the designers threw a jam-packed party in the basement of Kenmare.
Further downtown at Mr. Chow’s in TriBeCa, Brian Reyes and Ukranian artist Oksana Mas hosted a dinner to celebrate the Zorya print collection, which debuted in Reyes’ fall show earlier that evening. Mas, her gallerist Zorianna L. Altomaro of Zorya Fine Art, and Reyes collaborated on a series of organic, nature-inspired prints in a meeting of contemporary art and fashion. A mix of editors and friends toasted the trio with a series of vintage vinos, provided by John Kapon of Acker Merrall & Condit wine merchants.
Elsewhere, Last Magazine held a bash at Pravda in SoHo to celebrate its fourth issue. “I have a lot of friends who like open bar,” said founder Magnus Berger, surveying the at-capacity crowd.
One such friend was Alexander Skarsgård of “True Blood,” who arrived with Kate Bosworth and made it clear he was not in town for fashion week. “I got in an hour and a half ago,” he said. “I’m here because friends of mine work for The Last Magazine — Magnus and Karl [Lindman, the magazine’s art director]. The Swedish contingent, that’s who I’m here for.”
Also partying into the wee hours were Johan Lindeberg, Alexander Wang, Daria Werbowy, Natasha Poly, Anja Rubik, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Richard Chai, Phillip Lim and Natalie Portman, who arrived after midnight with dancer Benjamin Millepied.
