RALPH’S ROW ONE: On Thursday morning at Ralph Lauren’s runway show at Skyline Studios in SoHo, Jessica Alba was searching for a way to describe the range of her social calendar over the past few weeks. She had been to the Democratic National Convention then the TechCrunch digital forum and, now, the front row. “Umm… They’re very different,” Alba explained. “One was political. The other one was business oriented. Technology. I have a company and so…” WWD observed that she was a real Renaissance woman. “I don’t know,” she said with a demure laugh. Alba’s seatmate, Olivia Wilde, was wearing both an orange Lauren dress and her fashion editor’s cap (figuratively on the latter): “There’s always something romantic about [Lauren’s collections] but they’re always very current. There’s something about this collection that is classic and chic but still bohemian. Like this dress felt to me bohemian in color and texture but still a very classic silhouette.” As the aisles cleared, fashion week ubiquitor Ryan Lochte rounded out the front row. — M.L.
