ARTISTIC BENT: Shielding her eyes against the bank of spotlights trained on the front row, Carey Lowell sat next to Allure editor in chief Linda Wells at the Rochas show in Paris on Wednesday. The pair confirmed they are working on a project, but declined to reveal any details. “Only that it’s international,” Wells teased.
Lowell, who is married to Richard Gere, just held the first exhibition of her ceramics at the Celadon gallery in Water Mill in the Hamptons. “I’ve been toiling away for 10 — or something — years,” the model and actress noted. “It was a great success, I have to say. I actually sold most of my work.”
The guests also included Mathew Weir, a friend of Rochas designer Marco Zanini, who owns two of his paintings. Weir said he will take part in the group exhibition “Beyond Reality, British Painting Today,” opening at the Galerie Rudolfinum in Prague next week.
“I suppose it comes from a dark place, the work,” said the softly-spoken British artist. This was his second time at a Rochas show. “I kind of enjoy being an observer of things, rather than worrying about anything,” he said.
