PIONEERING SPIRIT: Hilary Swank swooped into the Salvatore Ferragamo show in Milan on Sunday moments before it was due to start.
The Oscar-winning actress returns to the big screen this year in “The Homesman,” directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones. In it, she stars as Mary Bee Cuddy, a pioneer woman charged with escorting three insane women from Nebraska to Iowa with the help of Jones’ character.
“It’s a very dangerous time, and it’s just a world that we don’t even think about because of all the modern-day things we have and neighbors that we have. Sorry, it’s real hard to concentrate here,” she said apologetically, as ushers rushed stragglers to their seats. “But the clothes were beautiful,” she whispered.
Alison Brie was buzzing with the success of “The Lego Movie,” which has topped the North American box office for the third weekend in a row. “I know that everyone loves Lego, but I didn’t know how much,” she marveled. “It just seems like kids of all ages are really enjoying it.”
Brie, known for her roles in “Mad Men” and “Community,” voices the character of Unikitty in the animated film. “She’s very pink. I’m channeling her a little bit tonight with my shoes,” said the actress, pointing to her pink suede heels. “She’s very sort of sticky sweet but has a bit of an angry dark side, so that was fun to play with.”
