A LITTLE HELP: With the Oscars less than two weeks away, Viola Davis was cooling her heels Tuesday morning at Vera Wang. (Maria Sharapova joined her in the front row.) Before the lights went down, the Best Actress nominee said the most nerve-racking aspect of the lead-up to Hollywood’s day of reckoning is “channeling other people’s expectations of you. They have expectations about everything — about you winning, about what you’re going to wear, what you’re going to say, what you’re going to do with your hair.”

Looking calm as can be, barelegged in a short bright blue dress with a lightweight long gray cardigan, Davis said, “I try to silence all the white noise to get to a safe place where I can truly enjoy the moment.”

Her husband and fellow actor Julius Tennon laughed knowingly. And how does she manage that? “My husband,” she said. “He’s my secret weapon and he’s got the voice of reason.”
