An intimate crowd packed into Manhattan’s Masonic Hall Thursday morning — for fashion, not freemasonry. Jessica Joffe, Chelsea Leyland, Kate Foley, Rainey Qualley, Cipriana Quann and Gaia Matisse — lap dog on her lap — were among the guests seated front row to catch the Creatures of the Wind spring show. It was the second season that designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters have shown their collection at the Flatiron venue.
“I know the boys, I love them,” said Joffe before the show, while trays of hibiscus iced tea were passed around. “I think they’re f–king brilliant. I haven’t been able to make it to a show of theirs in a while because I was working at another company and we never had time during fashion week for anything else,” she continued. The redhead mentioned plans to attend Adam Selman and Thakoon later in the day, with other plans for the week up in the air — she recently started her own B2B company, which is keeping her busy.
“I guess you have to be entrepreneurial these days,” she said, a sentiment sure to ring true with all of the emerging designers and faces hoping to make their mark this week.
