FASHION EXTRAVAGANZA: Once again, Galeries Lafayette is taking fashion to the streets. For the third edition of what it bills to be the “World’s Biggest Fashion Show,” the department store is gearing up to stage a megacatwalk event in Paris on Sept. 18, and elsewhere in France four days later.
Casting for the happening in the City of Light is to be held on Sept. 10 and 11. Its panel of judges, composed of fashion professionals, will select 400 individuals to model in the show. They’ll be prepped by 30 L’Oréal Paris hairstylists and makeup artists from StudioMakeup and Guerlain.

With its first event, in 2010, Galeries Lafayette set a Guinness World Record for the most people to walk in a runway show. (U.S. retailer Express broke the record the following year, when some 1,234 folks made their way down its catwalk in New York’s Times Square.)
This year, thousands are expected to take part in Galeries Lafayette’s fashion shows.
The Paris extravaganza will be live-streamed on the homepage of Galeries Lafayette’s Web site.
