Second Madison Gallery Space Opens in L.A.

Mark Goldstein moves into former Diavolina space next to Madison, his main retail business, on West Third Street.

GALLERY SPACE: After closing Diavolina, Mark Goldstein has put a second outpost of Madison Gallery in the 2,500-square-foot former Diavolina space next to Madison on West Third Street in Los Angeles. Goldstein started the Madison Gallery concept at the Malibu Country Mart in 2007 as a designer destination to complement the focus on contemporary clothing at his main retail business, Madison. Since then, Madison Gallery’s merchandise has morphed into a mix of designer and what Goldstein calls “advanced contemporary” labels, including Alexander Wang and Theyskens’ Theory.

“I feel the advanced contemporary market has developed strongly with young American and European designers. They are one step down in price point from designer, but I feel in some cases their designs are more relevant,” said Goldstein, who owns eight stores under the Madison and Madison Gallery nameplates in Southern California. Additional brands available at Madison Gallery include Marni, Missoni, Helmut Lang, Rag & Bone, Proenza Schouler and Moncler.
