BRAVING THE ELEMENTS: Hailing from Denmark, Ditte Reffstrup, the creative director of Copenhagen-based label Ganni, knows a thing or two about harsh weather conditions, especially as an avid cyclist. “As Copenhageners, our main form of transportation is our bicycles…we practically live in our coats most of the year,” Reffstrup said. “But I’m always struggling to find practical outerwear that still looks fabulous.” Determined to create practical, weatherproof outerwear that was also chic, Reffstrup has designed a collection of technical coats as part of Ganni’s fall 2016 collection. The offering includes four water-resistant styles available in navy and camouflage that range from $260 to $550.
In addition to working closely with her manufacturers to test the fabrications, Reffstrup said her design team has worn the styles over the past six months and can personally attest to their performance. “[The coats] are not just technically outstanding but also real-life-proofed. We want our outerwear to actually keep you warm, dry and protected…and looking great while doing so,” she said. Ganni’s new range will be offered on Net-a-porter.com and Shopbop.com this fall.
