New Museum Hosts Next Generation Party

Co-chairs Fabiola Beracasa, Poppy de Villeneuve, Kalup Linzy, Lorenzo Martone, Meredith Melling Burke and Carlos Mota wrangled a colorful crowd for the cause.

GENERATION NEW: The New Museum held its Next Generation party in its seventh-floor Skyroom on Friday night, where co-chairs Fabiola Beracasa, Poppy de Villeneuve, Kalup Linzy, Lorenzo Martone, Meredith Melling Burke and Carlos Mota wrangled a colorful crowd of fashion and art world regulars to the cause. Prabal Gurung, Zani Gugelmann and Michelle Harper were on hand for the party, which celebrated the museum’s 2012 triennial.

Artist Wu Tsang gave a preview of the upcoming survey with “Full Body Quotation,” a performance piece put on with the aid of a small troupe of black-clad actors and a generous sampling of dialogue from the drag ball documentary “Paris Is Burning.” “Do people know that film?” a smiling Tsang asked the crowd, eliciting a few cheers and a “woo-hoo” or two.
